Well, As I suspected, the folks at Allthingsjeep.com have announced May 18th as the official date for Go Topless Day this year. So we will be up in Atlant for Trail Maintenance once again! We actually had a good time last year with the cookout back at Clear Lake State Campground after our day of maintenance, so I am game for the same thing this year. Any thoughts on how to jazz it up a bit? Make it more of an "event" so to speak?

Could incorporate an elk watching tour in the early evening.
Sounds like a good plan !!
I think we have seen elk twice in like 12 trips up there... that is not great odds!
You don't find them at Microbrews...
Ha, ha... Very true, but sadly there is no good beer in Atlanta...

Never heard of a six pack? It's this new fangled way to carry up to six of your favorite beers at the same time! Truly amazing technology, might even work in the Atlanta area. I have seen purported spy photos of a 12 pack, but I am just not ready to believe technology has advanced that far yet.

lol.. You could grab a growler or four on the way to Atlanta at BARTS (http://www.bartsbaycity.com/).
Silly me... All kinds of good beer options I had left completely off the table... I may be forced to turn in my Michigan Brewers Guild Enthusiast membership card...
At the meeting last night I asked if anybody was interested in ordering Go Topless day shirts from all things jeep for this year. If we order 12 items we would qualify for the club discount of 40% off - Check out their website - there are unisex t's, women's v-necks, coffee mugs, hoodies, tire covers, etc. With the 40% off, regular t-shirts would cost us $11.40 each. Browse the website and post up what you want to order and we'll see if we can get 12 items together and make the order with club funds and have everybody reimburse us when at the may meeting.

We live up here in Atlanta. Thanks to your club for your trail cleanups! We might be able to show your group some elk if you are interested. They are getting harder to view each year due to less crops planted for them to group up at. Some of our jeepin friends are camping at clear lake also, so hopefully we can meet up with your group. Thanks again for what you do!
Thanks Backcountry.
I would look forward to a guided elk tour as that is the second reason I am going on the trail cleanup weekend.
We have bumped into elk on the trails during our maintenance runs a couple of times over the years, but it would be cool to have someone along who knows the places to find them.

Bumping into elk with a Jeep will get you into big trouble! ;)

At the very least a dented bumper.
1 L and 1 XL please
Update: Elk still laying low up here. Hopefully they will be out in the open a little more by topless weekend. Trails are pretty plugged up with downed trees. Between elk antler shed hunters, turkey hunters, etc. hopefully we can have some cleared up before you guys get up here so we can go find some elk! Hope our group "Elk Country Jeepers" can meet some of your group at the Mesick Blessing! Thanks again. Paul and Kari Klein.
Thanks for the update Paul and Kari. Really looking forward to our Atlanta weekend and meeting you in Mesick in a couple of weeks.
Jim (Jane's Jeep Blue YJ)

Nah, it's ok to keep feeding him as long as he is growing up, not out.
So as I mentioned at the meeting, last year we just told everyone to bring stuff for side dishes, etc. and we wound up with like 8 bags of plain potato chips and tub of potato salad or something like that... considering we are going to have a pretty good sized crowd to feed, lets get a little more organized this year and actually sign up for what people are bringing and ensure we get our bases covered... I can bring a crock pot to plug into one of the campers if anybody want to bring a hot item...
Russ has Agreed to bring Hamburgers and I will bring Hot dogs & Brats Can we get other members to commit to the following items:
(those spoke for marked in red)
#1 - three Packages of Hamburger Buns
#2 - Three Packages of Hot Dog Buns
#3 - Condiments - Ketchup/Mustard/Relish
#4 - Cold Side Dish #1 - Pick potato salad, coleslaw, etc. so we know what is coming
#5 - Cold Side Dish #2 - Pick potato salad, coleslaw, etc. so we know what is coming
#6 - Hot side Dish - Baked beans, etc. that can simmer in the crock pot
#7 - Two Bags of Potato Chips
#8 - Dessert #1
#9 - Dessert #2

An thus a new secret word for the club is born...
Bring on the Michigan made, craft brewed #11!
We will bring #3 & #7.
Also, I have my ladderball game I can bring to set up, and I'll throw a Frisbee in the Jeep. Anybody else have any lawn/tailgating type games they can bring along?
We don't go camping without our Cornhole game(Bean Bag Toss).

Yep, I'll be making a special trip this week to Frankenmuth Brewery to pick up a case.
Our go topless day t-shirts will be available for pick-up at the event. Please Bring $12.00 per shirt ($12.50 for 3XL).
I will "bake" a variety of deserts, cookies and such :)
Since nobody signed up for the plates & Plasticware, I picked them up yesterday at the store..
Had great weather, camp cookout and great time this past weekend in Atlanta. It was a perfect example of why we belong to a club...the comradery; the unity; the community service; and the good times!:)
Thanks to Paul & Mike(Elk Country Jeepers) for guiding us through the trails for our elk encounter Friday night and assisting with the trail maintenance on Saturday.
Oh yah...it was very dusty but the trails weren't as bad as expected either.
Maybe it's because we didn't work as hard Saturday as we have on other trips, but it was one of the most enjoyable trail maintenance outings I have been on in a long time.

I will second that! Great time for sure.
Hey Guys, Thanks again for coming up and clearing out trails! Also thanks for inviting my family to the meal, hit the spot. It was fun spending time with all you jeepers(Kaitlyn had a blast hanging out at your campsite). Next time anybody is up this way and want to hit some trails or go look for some elk, let us know. Thanks again! Paul, Kari, Kaitlyn, and Aubrie Klein.

You may need to be granted access but once you are a member of the site you can view, comment and post pictures/videos yourself, at any time. There is 1 Atlanta Trail video on the right of the page.
Check'em out!
Thanks for putting the pics up, Jim... It was a great trip. Glad everyone seems to agree!
