Title: West Branch
Post by: Nosilla on October 07, 2007, 08:47:10 PM
Lets go wheel. Sunday October 21st in West barnch. My plan is to take off from the wal mart parking lot at 12 (noon) Wheel till about 5 or 6 then catch dinner in town then head for home.

So bring some snacks and drinks for the trail and maybe even a camera. Should be a good time for the whole family.we are going to GPS some of the trails while we are there also to give to GLFWDA to help aid in getting more ORV route miles in Michigan.

See you guys and gals up there then.

if I have my jeep back by then, and if you will allow me to tag along, I will more than likely join yall up there.

Which Wal-Mart parking lot are you talking about leaving from?

We might be able to make this one.  I'll check with the War Counsil.  Hey Neil, you don't plan on wheeling for very long do ya?  That is unless your talking about the Yall-mart in Westbranch.

Yes i am talking about the wal mart in west branch. Pull out of that 1 at noon.

Cody, all members should be there. this was set up for as a club trip.

I should be there. My Jeep *should* be back up and running by then! Yay!

And, like Neil said, this counts as an Event (as voted by the members who were at the meeting yesterday), which will allow several people to be voted on at the next meeting to join our club.

Have a couple questions about this trail ride. Not sure if you mapped out our route yet, but will there be any traveling for a long distance on pavement? Will there be anyone going up towing there vehicle?

The reason I ask these two questions is that I have a delema with the type of trail tires I own, which really sucks for me in a way. I don't own a set of tires yet that I can travel both on the highway and go trail riding with, so I will have to bring a second set of tires and change them out when I get to West Branch. I can drive around town fine with them, but my set of 31" Mickey Thompsons are bias-ply tires and I have real trouble driving with these on the pavement for a extended distance if I have to drive over 40 mph do to the fact that I get death wobble effects. I can run my 33" Yokohama's on the highway, but the tread on these wears really fast and I would like to keep these tires around for as long as I could since they don't make these tires anymore and I don't have $500 to go out and buy a new set of tires.

Hate to sound like a pain in the ass, but this is what I have to I am stuck with at the moment. I hate having to trailer my tires every time I want to go out wheeling outside of Genesse.

Mudviper, This run will be mainly on 2 tracks. We might hit a total of 15 miles of pavement all day. Mainly to jump between trails. There will be no reason to go above 40 at all.

I plan to trailer my jeep up if i have it done in time. If not i will be driving the jeep up.

Ok thanks.. Was just trying to figure out which set to bring and what to do with my tire carrier. Think my 33's might weigh to much to stack all 4 tires on my tire carrier, so I will give the Mikey's a try.

I would like to get a set of 31's or 32's that I could use as DD tires, but will not have any funds until March. I have 3 kids birthdays this month, buying costumes and Christmas coming I am pretty much pennyless...lol.

I have a set of 30' Scorpions that I use right now if I need to run long distances, but there is hardly any tread left on them.

WoW :o  30' tires. how much lift do you need to clear those? or do they stick out from the body like tractor tires?

If you are going to wait till March let me know I found out a buddy of mine can get new 12.5x33x15 Goodyears or BFG I'm not sure which ones for like 75 a tire. His brother in law races dirt track or some chit and he is sponsored  so he gets a new set every week. The only thing wrong with the tires is the edge of the lugs are rounded. His season doesnt start back up till March so if anyone needs a set of 33's ......

Wow, I totally misread this thread.  I was thinking it was a Saturday.  Thats a bummer.  I won't be able to make this one.  I have to work Sunday night.  I wasn't at the meeting so I don't have a say for this one.  Was the day of the week up for a vote?  It would seem that Saturday would be better as it's a weekend day that most people don't have to work the next day.  Sorry, just my opinion.  Have fun on this trip and be safe.

I need to do the cub scout thing on Saturday morning.  They did really well last night at the mall (thanks in part to our favorite adopted aunt!), and he is really excited about doing it again next weekend.  Sunday I'm good, Saturday I would have to try and sneak it in between cub scout popcorn sales and dinner w/family in the evening.

I think we might be able to do that Paul. I will get back to you in the next day or so. I know Rachel had plans for me in the morning though. Then i still need to find time to take the trailer out for a short run. I want to drive like 20-30 miles with it with the jeep on it before Sunday to make sure everything is good to go.

gonna put training wheels on it to make sure it is tip proof?  Sorry, couldn't resist.

We need to figure out if we are willing to keep our poor little puppy in the kennel all day in order to make this run.  We never thought about the fact that he is an attention whore and probably will make himself sick while we are gone.
