Title: A real angery squirrel under the hood?
Post by: TechJeeper on September 04, 2007, 11:28:18 PM
It sounds like I have some small creature caught in my fan or something... My question is would a alternator that is dieing make a horrible screeching noise?  I cant pinpoint if the sound is coming from under the hood or from the front right tire (or hub or ujoint)...  I guess I will have to mess with it tomorrow....  Might be time for a new alternator.

take the alt off and have it tested thats the best way to know if its the alt. Could be crap in your fan clutch also. I have a fan for you if thats what it is.

Yea, I am thinking alt because we had some issues at the mounds because I got a little to deep into a hole... then got pulled out, then tried it again, LOL.  Anyways, I made it back to the parking lot in time for my jeep to die because the alt wasnt charging the battery.  A guy that owns a Jeep down the road from my house was there (Got Mud? Member) and he sprayed it down with something and tapped it and it worked perfectly.
