Title: this Sunday (23rd i beleive)
Post by: 94_xj_country on September 19, 2007, 12:00:40 AM
mounds again, since vassars closed for a bog. anyone interested?

I'd ride along with somebody.

Vassar isn't closed for that bog.. That bog is a little ways down the main street in another sand pit that the same guy owns.

We could go to Vassar, and I could wheel my truck there..

I think what Neil was referring to was the signs we say last time the club was out there on our way home. Theres a charity mud bog down m15 a little ways at another one of that guys pits (or at least thats where the signs were).

Theres no mud big enough for a mud bog in the one that we go to. I'm up for going out there, and I'll have the tank, so I can pull people out (no way I'm going in any mud!).

Sweet. I work Saturday but have Sunday off. This works out great for everyone it sounds like. Awesome !

I don't know if Chris is able to go with us or not, but if we could meet at his house like last time.. that worked out really great. I don't want to volunteer his house.. but just a suggestion. Matt's would work too if he's available to go.

Yikes.. So I stroll into work today. "Brandon, did you forget we switched you from today to working 5 to close on Sunday".

"F***! F***! F***!"

So yea.. guess I can't go. I asked everybody else if they could cover for me, but nope. :(

Yea.. I know.

Man.. its weird.. Of everyone I started working with 6 months ago, including the 2 other people that started with me.. The last one is leaving saturday (thats why I'm covering her shift on sunday).

Its kinda sad... Going through friends that quickly..

Pizza places suck. They have the lowest average job length of any business.

Must be the place you work for.  I drove for the same shop off and on for 14 years - a lot of faces came and went, but there was always a core of about 1/2 that had been there either steady or like me off and on for years at a time.  That's part of the reason I kept going back.  The other part was green and made of untraceable paper!  :D

A sand pit.. its an active pit so you can only wheel there after 5pm on weekdays, or anytime on the weekends.. but its pretty sweet.

Yea.. I really like my job. I have not really had one day where I've NOT wanted to go to work. Its fun, its different everyday, I meet a lot of cool and nice people... I get to drive my Jeep or my truck all day and I love driving. My only issue with it is I never know how much money I'm gonna make. A few days I've made 20-22 bucks an hour. Other days I've made $8 an hour.

One day this week I was "laid off" as there wasn't enough work. My manager said she made 7-10 pizza's the ENTIRE day. I have never seen it that slow for the 5 or 6 months I've worked there.

how about this:

1pm : meet at mounds
-wheel mounds for a little bit
3pm : leave mounds, go to vassar
-wheel vassar, leave after we had our fun, then go grab some food and acouple beers.

that sound good to everyone? if not then figure out something else

not sure what Chris' plans are and if he is planning to wheel with you (since the rig is broken and I'm tired of cleaning out the H2 everytime it tiptoes off road, I'm guessing it's a no.)

However, if you want, you guys are always welcome to come hang out here afterwards and throw shoes, watch the race (not sure when it's on...), play Dbikers Golf .

BYOB since I think the keg is empty, or at least flat :)

Oh, I spoke with a Vassar cop the other day and he isn't aware of any issues with wheeling in Vassar.  Not sure if you guys ever got resolution with that, but from his point of view, the cops aren't overly interested or called out there to deal with tresspassers.

Well.. Of all the people that were gonna meet us out there. It was just me, and Paul/Pam/Family.

I was showing off for a bunch of four wheelers and dirt bikers by spinning around and shooting sand and all the sudden I lost power steering and power braking in the truck. Then I saw my serpentine belt (which has been in very bad condition) laying on the ground under the truck. Then I found a pulley sitting in the sand. Uh oh.

Well.. about a month ago, an 1/8th inch of the serpentine belt came off and was wrapped around the fan clutch. Took it out, didn't think much of it. The belt still looked good.

Today, the power steering pump seized, blew the shaft, and the shaft and pulley fell to the ground, as well as the serpentine belt. So we think thats probably why we lost that 1/8th inch before too.

Drove it about 15 miles.. on and off till the motor got hot, then I'd pull over.. Finally met my dad in Millington, and he pulled me home with the van. Power steering pump is $75 at advanced (autozone wanted $120 for it).. So thats where we are at.

I guess P&P&F had some problems removing Pams driveshaft on the way home (her T-Case is blown) and decided to try to drive it home.. but had to stop on the way back.

Anyways, we all had a really fun time. Both P&P's jeeps did REALLY well out there.. got really muddy, everybody including the two kids had mud on them... Nothing major broke.. so it was a good trip!

As far as the Got Mud people go.. I've met some of them that have been real assholes, but they are also the ones that'll drop whatever they are doing and spend 6 hours digging out your 10,000 pound diesel thats buried up to the frame in mud. Not that thats ever happened to me...

I haven't personally witnessed anyone doing anything illegal there.. not even drinking (although that video posted before on our forums shows them running for their beer in the mud). So I don't have anything negative to say about them. They have pulled me out of tight situations SEVERAL times though and for that I'm appreciative.

Well, I had a lot of fun yesterday!!  Finally got to drive my OWN Jeep!  We finished off that Transfer Case on the way home.....and maybe something else? Can't tell, there's too much mud!!! :D  It growled at me all the way to work this morning, so I guess we have to change the T-Case now. I wish we would have had the camera.....camera phones just aren't the same!  Paul is gonna try to get the pictures to fit in the post.  It was fun hangin' out with you Brandon, hopefully there will be more of us able to go next time ;)

Yea, I had a good time wheeling with you guys.

We didn't buy the reservoir.. We check probably twice daily to see if the truck is leaking, especially since I've been driving it at work the past few weeks.. and it hasn't spotted anywhere.. So I'm assuming the reservoir is still good..
