At our last meeting we talked about going to R & V on the 15th of Dec. If so I was thinking that we could work in a trip to Jay's Sporting http://www.jayssportinggoods.com/ and next door is General Jim's Surplus http://www.generaljims.com/ they are less than 8 miles south of R & V's. Anyone interested?

I'm always up for a trip to Jay's.
Smebody needs to get a hold of Ron Price and see if he will open on the 15th.. We probably need to gaurantee him at least 5 rigs like we did last year...
Finally am able to reply to this posting.
We are definitely in for the R & V day trip on the 15th.
Come on everybody...let's get a big turnout...it's a great opportunity to have the entire place to ourselves(WLB club) and it is just a day trip!!!
Who's in?!?!?
I'm in.
Sounds like fun. Never been to Rocks and Valleys, can my stock JKUS Sahara make it around w/o damage? What time would you meet? I'll be driving from Rochester, Mi.
We'll hammer out the details this Sunday at our monthly meeting and post it up here as for running a stocker I am pretty sure you'll do fine.
Meeting is next Sunday December 2nd, just so there is no confusion...
We usually meet at a rest stop on I-75 and caravan from there, although you could just meet us up at R&V's if it is easier. We'll finalize times and post up after the meeting.
Thanks for clarifing the meet day I am confused by the long weekend
I'm going !! With or without the wife LMAO don't care if I have to work !! Where is everyone meeting up and what time ??
Probably meet at the Rest Stop on I-75 just past the Mt. Morris Exit. I am thinking 8:00 but we can firm it up on Sunday...
I am going to pass. Got buck tags and a Roscommon doe tag, hoping to make that a productive weekend, unlike this past one. No deer and managed to break the front dayglo sight on my muzzleloader. Time to finally install the scope I've had kicking around for it.

Amazing, my wife just told me we have a family event the 15th. Guess I'm no longer a maybe.
Yes they will open the 15th He will either meet us at the gate or if ski lodge is open we will pay at lodge. We will need flags if there are others there that day and he has a couple of loaners (and so do I ) if anyone needs one. What time are we going to meet there I will have to call him on the 14th and let him know so he can meet us if the lodge is closed
Sounds great Russ. I have a flag and am planning on being there at 10 am.
Was he planning on opening for anyone that day or is he opening it for just our club?
It sounded like as of now it is only us.
Maybe since he is going to open for us, he is going to post it up that he is open and hope that more come... I would say tell him 10:00. We can meet at the rest stop at 8:00 and be there at 10:00 without a problem.
How many do we have going again ??
We had a show of 7 hands at the meeting last Sunday.
It was Russ, Ryan, Ed, Mark, Mark's Buddy, Tony and Jim... Possibly one guest - Jason Church from UFWDA...
Marks friend "Leon"
and I if someone has an empty seat I have a co worker who would like to go. He has a Durango and is afraid of breaking it
Weather channel is calling for freezing rain on Saturday, should be awesome!
Are we going to pack a lunch for at the park?
I always figure on lunch on the trails! More time wheeling, less time looking for a place to eat!
OK that is what I thought.
from the NOAA page
Saturday A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36
I talked to Ron at R & V this morning and he will have a gas grill for our use and will try to put up a couple of instant shade tents as well(in case of rain). We will be bringing some venison chili for those that will want something warm for lunch and some bag chairs. Ron also stated that there may be a couple of other groups coming as well Saturday.
See you there!
I'm so ready !!!

I can't believe the one trip you make with your Jeep in the last X years is the one I can't go to.

Plus if you are anything like me, you won't see anything anyways!
I haven't seen a deer...not a deer since I got my opening morning buck!
My favorite trumpet player has a marching date Saturday in the Burton Christmas parade at noon on Saturday.

Fair enough ! Those are the special moments you don't want to miss !!
Just spoke with R & V's and he will be at gate around 9:30 am. There will be 2 other groups there so I will bring an extra flag or 2 for those who need them. If you want to we will be meeting at the Mt. Morris rest stop on I 75 at 8AM See ya in the morning.
Have fun everyone!
What a riot! Jane and I had a lot of fun today...great group to spend a day of wheeling with.
It's going to be very difficult to pick a SOM with so many having some difficulties here and there throughout the day(pictures to follow). We were apprehensive at first but didn't back down at anything(well maybe once). I can now say that I have been "double winched!", and liked it!
There is so much Santa needs to bring us to be complete wheelers...I am not sure that we have been that good though.
Merry Christmas to all...looking forward to the next wheeling adventure.
Wow...you've been bit BAD!

I think it was when he was sliding sideways down the side of the hill ... Or maybe it was when he was hooked to more cable lines at one time then anyone should be hooked to ... LMAO it was a good day !!!
It was a great day out at R&V's. Trails had a coating of slippery snow that increased the difficulty (and the pucker factor) a bit and made for some really fun driving opportunities. We also had a couple nice stuck situations that required some pretty elaborate winching... including Jim's double winch hook-up that allowed him to be pulled back onto the hill without having his ass end slide into the trees... another day where most of the recovery gear in our bags was pulled out at one time or another... Good Times!
That was a lot of fun, can't wait to do it again.
