Title: Driverless red JK
Post by: Paul Hittie on August 25, 2010, 01:38:41 PM
Sitting alone in a gravel parking lot, surrounded by big, unfriendly-looking Jeeps.  At first it might have looked abandoned, but the owner called to check up on it, so not as lost and forgotten as it looked!

What's getting done to your Jeep Ed?

I booked it for the Spartan locker to make it "Drummond Island Worthy" and then Julie said "Why not just have them do the lift while they have it?" So...

3" Zone lift (New springs, shocks, & bump stops) with 35" BFG KM2's...
They were sent the wrong locker so it is actually back this week having the locker done.

The lift is great.  We drove it three hours up to Atlanta, two days on the trails, and 3 hours home.  They said at 3" I would probably be unhappy with the steering and such but it handled just like it always did - maybe a slightly stiffer feel actually.  Gas mileage dropped more than I anticipated - we went from 19mpg to about 12.  When I iquired about this, they said it should get better over time as the computer re-learns how to optimize itself for the new settings.  I got the procal computer module that they programmed with the new tire size and such, but they said I may want to play a little more with the shift points on that.  Not sure If I want to mess with it though... probably make it worse rather than better!

Does the new all-electronic JK have a speedometer gear that needs to be swapped out to compensate for the tire change?

We had to get one of the little computer module things (ProCal by AEV) to reset the tire size in the computer which adjusts the sepedometer/odometer & shift points on the tranny.
