Jeep Talk / 2014 Cherokee?
November 19, 2013, 03:40:11 AM
Does anyone know anything about the new 2014 Cherokee?  Okay, I know some of the old timers in here are gonna flame me for asking that, so bring it on!  :) ;D  I still have the XJ, don't plan on getting rid of it.  Actually, Joshua will be driving it in a couple of months.  Uggg, how time flies.  Were looking at a small SUV or car that is somewhat frugal on gas and has AWD.  The roads out here get slick with all the rain and the limited snow and ice. Stephanie want's something in an automatic that she can happily drive.  We were looking at the Toyota Rav 4 and the Honda CRV and even the VW Jetta TDI (Diesel).  I saw the adds for the new CHerokee and I have to admit, an XJ it is not, but it looks promising.  A happy compromise if you will...  Hell, the Trailhawk version looks pretty darn impressive for something that's independent front and rear suspension.

Looking for opinions if anyone has driven one or knows anyone with one.  Thanks all!

Wanted / XJ Roof Rack
September 13, 2012, 07:34:52 PM
I'm looking for an aftermarket roof rack for my 00 XJ. I was looking to stuff a spare 31" tire on it with a few duffel bags. Driving cross country need interior space. I don't care what brand it is. Thanks. It doesn't even have to be in the greatest of shape.  I can repaint it.  Everyone who knows me knows my fetish for bedliner anyway, LOL!

Parts For Sale/Trade / F/S Excalibur Wheel Spacers
September 13, 2012, 07:21:24 PM
Set of 4 Excalibur Wheel Spacers for sale $125.00.  I bought them from Unlimited Offroad last year.  I took em off my 00 XJ as I got new wheels and don't need them anymore.  They are 1.25" spacers for a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.  They are perfectly fine and have all the lugnuts and everything they came with.

Tech Talk / Lifting my wifes 00 XJ
October 23, 2011, 08:59:59 PM
HAHAHHA!  Yes, I'm still alive.  Yes, I have convinced my wife to let me lift her XJ.  Muuuuhhhhaaaaaaahhhaaaaaa!!!!!   Sorry I haven't been around, been working my tail off.    Her suspension is about done since I have brought all our wood home in log form in the back of the XJ.  I was gonna just get some coil over shocks, but decided to do it right.
How's this sound;  BDS 3" Coil Spring system w/ an add a leaf.  Does anyone else have this system?  It's just under $600.00.  I want to know if it rides smooth.  If it's a ruff ride, my wife will neuter me.  It's not gonna get any serious off-roading done.  It will see some trail riding with the club when I'm not working.......  I had to promise no serious off-roading like I did in my mistress.

The kit says it will fit 31" tires.  I was thinking 30" tires because I want to allow for some sag when I put on a front and rear bumper.  It's not gonna be anything like my baby, (God rest her soul).  Just a bumper to protect the front end from deer and a spare tire carrier in the rear with full size spare.  I'll probably go with BFG AT's or the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor's again.

Ive done some work to her XJ already.  It's got a new radiator, water pump, thermostat, & accessory pulley.  All fluids have been flushed and replaced with synthetics.  Ohh, and the whole undercarriage was shot with P.O.R. 15.  It was virtually rust free anyway though, hoping to keep it that way as long as possible.

Sooo, opinions on this lift pretty please.  Anyone have pics of an XJ with 30" tires under a 3" lift?

I have 2 stock Chrysler 5.25" speakers up for grabs.  They work fine and came out of my 00 XJ.  The connector was cut off of both, but it's workable.  Free to club members.  Well, you can buy me a beer at the next meeting     If your not a club member, then their $10.00 for both.

I'm looking for a front driver's side inner door skin for my 2000 XJ.  I need the whole panel, in two tone (tan/grey).  I don't need the power window switch as I have an extra.  If anyone is parting out or knows of one, please let me know, thanks.

Jeep Talk / I'm getting another Jeep!
March 05, 2011, 07:18:11 PM
Well, my wife is getting a Jeep.  We dropped the down on it and pick it up next week.  We have to drive 5 hours and a state away.  Were gonna have a bright red 2000 XJ Sport with 61k original miles on it.  It has no rust either!   It won't get lifted for at-least a year though.  This is gonna be mama's daily driver.  Were gonna put a 3 - 3.5 inch lift and 31's AT's on it.  After it's paid off, we'll throw JCR Sliders on it, and bumpers.  I am so excited to have a Jeep again, even if it's not mine.   ::woot::

Vehicles For Sale/Trade / SOLD 05 Unlimited Rubicon
August 06, 2009, 09:28:58 AM
SOLD   I don't want to have to do this, but I am.  Believe me it isn't easy.  I know that this Jeep is worth more and been taken very well care of.  Please let me know if you know anyone who is interested.  I'm not gonna drop the price, I'm pretty firm.  Depending on the site you go to, I found it at about $16,500.00 STOCK (Private) and just under $18,000.00 STOCK if you buy it retail from the stealership.  I know one seldom recovers aftermarket add on's.  There are almost $8,000.00 in aftermarket add on's and that doesn't include the labor (time) spent installing everything.  I'll post up some pics later this weekend when I get a chance to actually take some.  This way they are up to date.

We made the paper!

QuoteBURTON,, Michigan -- An afternoon rain didn't dampen the mood for 4x4 enthusiasts visiting the third annual 4x4 show Saturday at Rocky's Great Outdoors, 4014 S. Saginaw, hosted by the What Lies Beyond Jeep Club of Michigan.  Oscar Durand | The Flint JournalA Jeep-shaped trophy shines at the 4x4 show at Rocky's Great Outdoors in Burton. Follow this link to check out a photo gallery from the show.  "We love the mud, that's why we're here," said Jaime L. Walker, 33, of Flint.  Walker was among the dozen people walking around the 14 4x4 vehicles showcased at the free event.
Festival officials gave out awards for those entering the tallest and shortest 4x4, the ugliest, the one with the best fabrication and the best of show. Judging results were not available at press time.
Jody Sweet, 46, of Burton said she never owned one, but was interested enough to spend about 90 minutes looking at them.
"I drive a Dodge Stratus, they're good on gas mileage," she said.
"I've never been in a 4x4. They're interesting."
"I've never had a 4x4, but I've been thinking about it," said James Urbin, 43, of Burton.
"My brother-in-law has a Jeep 4x4 and they're a lot of fun."
He said he drove pick-up trucks his whole life, but is thinking of converting.
"I think the most interesting one here is the Jeep with the V-8 (engine)."
The Jeep he spoke of is a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, said Steve M. Anderson, 23, of Brighton, who works for Unlimited Off Road Centers, located at 3201 W. Thompson at U.S. 23 in Fenton and brought it to the show.
"We modify them," Anderson said.  "In this case, we took the 3.8 V6 engine out and put in a 6.1 Hemmi V8. It gets up and goes good. It also has a little bit of a suspension lift.  Another Jeep Anderson brought down was a Jeep Wrangler converted into a pickup.  "It took us a week straight to modify it," he said. "It started out as a 1997 Jeep Wrangler. We built it last year, so is it a 2008?"  The 4x4 has a 4.7 Stroker six-cylinder engine and sports one-ton axles. Walker said he used to take his children and the family dog out in the mud when he had his Jeep.  "They all loved getting muddy," he said.  "It's wholesome fun. It's something kids need to get into. If you take them to the drag strip or a mud hole, they're bound to like one of them. It can give them a passion in life, a creative outlet."

Freebies / Sofa and Love Seat
July 05, 2008, 02:33:53 PM
a 12 pack of Landshark will get ya a nice sofa and love seat.  It's a dark forest green microfiber overstuffed sofa and love seat.  We have replaced them.  Everythings fine.  One of the cushons could use a needle and thread for a small rip.  Other than that, there very comfortable.  They are now sitting in the garage waiting to find a new home.  If nothing else, they would be great basement furniture.  I just want them gone.  PM or call if ya have the number.

Freebies / GONE
July 05, 2008, 02:30:39 PM
Hey all, I have a kitchen table and chairs for FREE.  Actually, a six pack of Land Shark will do.     Three of the four chairs are good, the fourth is not so good.  The table itself is just fine.  We thought about re-finishing it ourselves but fell into a deal on another one we just could not refuse.  It's just sitting in my garage waiting to go home with someone.  The table could actually double as a work bench for anyone interested.  PM if your interested, or call if ya have the number.

The Lounge / My LJ was in a fender bender
June 13, 2008, 04:43:34 PM
Well, were not sure if were gonna make Silver Lake now.  Stephanie was driving down Torrey Rd. minding her own business and some POS come racing out of their driveway in reverse.  OOPS!  That was their first mistake.  Stephanie drove the LJ right into em.  She avoided major damage.  Our right rear tire tore their rear bumper right off their car.  So she calls me to tell me she's ok and I'm already in the neighborhood to meet up with her and BAM!  There goes my left front tire in a pot hole.  I'm out a rim and tire.  SOB!!!!!!  The damage to the Jeep, well, the rear end is a bit messed up.  I could have used some of JP's nice rear fenders, would have just cut that are like a can opener.   ::ouch::

Bottom line and most important, Stephanie is fine.  I'll update on our status for Silver Lake.

Can you say Friday the 13th.  I'm stayin home the rest of the night!
