One site said they have not been priced yet, but a company called MatTrack has a simular product that sells for $15 to $75K depending on the size of the vehicle.

Please let me know if anyone is going to attend next year.  THis looks like a nice ride and the bridges will be great to see.  It appears some were bulit during the Civil War era.  I know it is a bit early, but planning a is good thing.

Thanks,
Dave

Tech Talk / Dual Batteries & Switch
December 12, 2010, 09:51:37 AM
Does anyone have dual batteries and switch setup? If so can you provide some details?

1. What brand of switch? What ones are better & why?
2. Did you have to install a different alt. to handle the extra load.
3. Battery Type

I have a 2004 TJ stock Jeep. It has a second battery tray already installed on the drivers side.

Thanks,
Dave

Tech Talk / Re: Pop Corn Noise from Front of my TJ
August 11, 2010, 09:05:19 PM
Well...I narrowed down the noise to be in or around the engine of Trans.  It turned out to be the shifter linkage bushings in the trans that caused the problem.  Fred, mechanic @ Szott's Jeep, found an old service bulletin that talked about this noise. He also spent time with me prior to taking my TJ into the shop.  They replaced the bushings and no more noise.  Hope this might help someone else.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Dave

When is the Sept. club meeting?  Will try to make it.

Tech Talk / Pop Corn Noise from Front of my TJ
July 18, 2010, 06:03:19 PM
I still have a noise coming from the front of my stock TJ.  It only does it at low speeds, when going over a small bump in the road, etc.  I have replaced the links to the front stabilizer, and put new poly bushings on the front track bar.  The nosie is a metal on metal sound, and it only does it after you have been driving for 2-4 miles.  Could it be the upper or lower control arms?  Also are those under any pressure, or can you just take the bolts out and they fall off.  Can the arm go bad, or do I just need to get new bushings?   Sorry for all the questions.  Heading to Colorado, Moab and AZ and want to get this thing fixed.

Thanks,
Dave

Tech Talk / Re: CB Radio Problem
June 05, 2010, 06:24:36 PM
Gr8archer,

I did the swr...forgot to mention that.  Best i can get it is a little under 2.   What did you mean about the wire.  When you say ring, do you mean at the ant.  If so then yes I have that type of connector at the ant.

Thanks,

Dave

Tech Talk / CB Radio Problem
June 05, 2010, 04:34:01 PM
I get engine noise/feedback in my CB.
I have installed a Uniden 520 CB in my Jeep.  I have a rear bumper mount ant., 4 ft. Fire Stick.  I ran the ant. wire along the inside next to all of the electrical harness that runs to the back for the hard top.  I have run the hot and ground wire to the fuse box and tried to run it straight to the battery.  I also purchased a noise filter and still have the same problem.  I verified that the ground wire to the ant. is good.  In fact I installed a new one just to make sure.  I have a handheld CB and I can send and received just fine, from a distance of about ΒΌ mile.  If I turn the squelch up the noise stops.

Has anyone else had this problem?  If you did, what was your solution?

Thanks,
Dave

Does anyone bring their dogs, or is this not a good event to bring them to?  Please be honest if it's not a good event.   I have a Golden Retriever, she is very friendly.

Thanks,
Dave

One more question about the trail Maintenance.  I may be heading home from riding my ATV in the UP.  Would I be able to go with you on my ATV to perform the trail maintenance?

Thanks,

Dave
