The ORV park opens at 10am and I think the fee is now $25 for rig and driver and $5/passenger(Free under 12).  I will get details from Ron at R&V and let people know at the meeting.

Events / Easter Egg Hunt
March 28, 2015, 10:08:28 AM
Anyone interested in doing the Easter egg hunt at http://rocksandvalleys.com/ on April 18th?
A couple of us attended this event last year and it was a lot of fun...looking for Easter eggs while wheeling!  Some of the 2,000+- eggs have candy in them and others have numbers for a prize.

It's nice to see another YJ for a change.  Hope to see it in person soon.  What is it you have to do to it?  I have the radiator out of Jane's and rear shocks off waiting for parts.  Trying to get it ready for Tennessee next week.

Not sure about the whole YJ/CJ7 thing(Frankenstein?).
Look at the frame real good.  Where the straight frame starts to curve up in front of the rear wheel well can be rusted along with the notorious spot where the steering box bolts to the frame.  I would hope that it comes with good, large tires as well as the street tires.
Maybe there's a nice blue, well equipped, well built '91 YJ in his future(he saw it Sunday)...just sayin.

The Lounge / Re: "LunchBox Lockers
February 20, 2015, 07:51:38 AM
Russ,
I reviewed the threads and links below when I was in the market for a front locker.
In addition, when I was stuck on some big tires at the the Jeep Blessing last year a guy from the Cadillac Jeepers told me to "get a Detroit True Trac, that was the only way to go".  So I researched it and as you know, Jane drives her Jeep short distances to work everyday(except in the winter) and I didn't want a ratcheting lunchbox style and I didn't want the expense of an air or electric locker(additional things to have go wrong). So the Detroit True Trac seemed like the best answer as we are not serious rock crawlers but wanted to lock the front end for the additional traction on hills, mud, whatever.  I also talked to Dale at Ironman Offroad at the Dixie Gully Run and he also thought it was a good option for our needs.  I have only used it up at Grayling in December since it was installed but we were going up hills the first time that were challenging in previous trips in the fall.  It is all gear driven, limited slip, you don't even notice it on the road, which was important to me.  So that's my 2 cents worth.  Everybody has their opinion.  It also only cost me about $375 through 4WD.com with our club discount(a little more than a lunchbox but considerably cheaper than an air or electrically activated lockers).

Jim

Hi Daron family.
Jane and I know first hand how the Jeep bug can sink it's teeth into you and get quite a grip!
It's nice hearing your family's excitement about getting into wheeling.
Looking forward to meeting you and hitting the trails with you.
