VOTE FOR MICHIGAN, HELP OUR STATE PARKS
EARN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN FREE TREES!

The Odwalla juice company recently announced its third annual "Plant a Tree"
program, a nationwide competition and a tremendous opportunity to help Michigan state parks and recreation areas - an opportunity for supporters of our state's great outdoors to plant a tree without ever having to lift a shovel! This program allows people across the nation to vote for the state park system where they want trees to be planted.

Last year, Michigan received more than $50,000 in free trees for our state parks and recreation areas. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment planted these trees in areas most heavily affected by the Emerald Ash borer and other invasive forest pests. We plan to do the same this year, but we need your help to capture as many votes - and trees - as possible.

Right now, Pennsylvania and Texas are leading the pack. Michigan can easily take the lead!

Odwalla has committed $200,000 to the campaign and each vote is equal to $1 that can be used for trees. The number of votes a state receives will determine the number of dollars it earns to purchase and plant trees. Voting continues through Aug. 15 - or until the $200,000 is exhausted. As of today, more than $130,000 in tree funding is still available.

If you're committed to the health and long-term vitality of our state parks and recreation areas, here's a simple way to take action to help them with just the click of a mouse. Please take a moment to vote today at //www.odwalla.com/plantatree/_MI.jsp .

At the voting page, Odwalla asks people to enter either their Facebook account information or email address and birth date. This is just to keep the competition fair, ensure that voters are at least 13 years old, and keep people from voting more than once. However, you can get an additional opportunity to vote, by using a special six-character Odwalla code! These codes can be found in the Park Visitor Welcome Kits guests receive when visiting our state parks. Just look for the Odwalla page inside that includes the code to redeem for a vote at the Odwalla website. For more information about the Odwalla Plant a Tree program, contact Cheryl Greaney at [email:8f9bd]greaneyc@michigan.gov[/email:8f9bd] .

Please help the DNRE spread the word about the Odwalla Plant a Tree program to other outdoor enthusiasts. Thanks for helping us to grow Michigan from the ground up, one tree at a time!

Events / 4x4 Show Donation Email
May 12, 2010, 09:07:28 AM
Hello,
My name is Cody Dean.  I am the president of What Lies Beyond Jeep Club of Michigan.  What Lies Beyond is a family friendly group of Jeep enthusiasts.  Not only do we love to wheel, but we strive to make a positive name for the 4x4 community, as well as help keep our trails here in Michigan open and clean.

Every year we do a 4x4 show, giving other off-roaders a chance to show off their rigs.  This year will mark our 4th annual, and we have some big things in store.  We have teamed up with the Eastern Michigan Food Bank this year, and we are extremely excited for the opportunity to help such a great organization.  We plan on collecting canned foods, but also, donate the proceeds of the show to the Food Bank.  They have the power to leverage every dollar of donation into $11 of canned foods!

I am writing you with the request of donation for our raffle.  I understand that the economy isn't the greatest right now, but anything that would help us help the people in need in our community would be greatly appreciated.   We will also have bags filled with goodies for each entry, so if you would like anything distributed, please include it with the donation.  Vendors who donate products worth over $100 will get their logo on the flyer, which will be distributed to thousands of off-road enthusiasts in Michigan and surrounding states.  If you would like your logo on the flyer, please contact me before May 31st 2010.

We will also have vendor spots available if you are interested.   Vendors spots are free with any donation worth $100, or $50 if you do not wish to donate.  Also, with any donation above $10, you may bring a vehicle to put in the show for free.
