Starter might be bound up against the flywheel or the clutch bound up.

You can try to remove the starter from the engine. Take some jumper cables and ground the starter to the engine then turn the starter over to see if it operates properly.

I agree.. I don't think you can do much with round headlights. So how many people do we have not with blue tj's?

If the teeth are not aligned on the clutch, you will not get the transmission connected to the engine, sense the output shaft of the trans needs to slide through the teeth of the clutch

Plastic clutch alignment tools are quite cheap to pick up at the auto parts store, and I believe there are a couple people in the club that have one for  your engine also. If you want a cheap way of doing this, I have heard of people using the end of a wooden broom handle as an alignment tool or something similar to that. The problem with this is that it doesn't align the teeth.

One thing you might consider replacing before you put the clutch in place is to replace the pilot bearing or at least check it out to see if it needs replaced.

Always an awsome job for something you do for the first time and on your own. How much weight can the box carry? Have never seen one of those before. Wouldn't mind one for the XJ.

I have been told many years ago that it is not legal to cover up the license plate, Longarm might be able to clear that up, so you might have to make a mounting bracket for the plate on the storage box.

If you have a photobucket account, you can copy and paste images from there on to the threads.

I wouldn't worry to much about the vacuum lines to much. They really should be effected to much. Plus you can use your vacuum lines off the engine you are pulling. You can also buy vacuum lines and a PCV valve from the auto parts store quite cheap.

Would like to go myself, but would cost me like $900 just in enterence fees alone not including gas and other necessities.  That event is not very family friendly to the finances..lol.

Running engine flush can do more harm then good actually. It has the tendence to losen up old grease and dirt in the engine and clog oil passage ways and the oil pump. If you are going to use it, I would watch your engine operation very closely afterwards

Before I even think about replacing the master cylinder, I would bleed the brakes lines at all four corners first. There might be just air in the lines or a small pin hole in one of the lines. I would also check the rear brake cylinders (can't remember what they are called at the moment) to see if the are leaking at all.

What engine are you working on? I don't know of any Jeeps that have a timing belt. I believe they use a chain.

removing the balancer will not effect the timing since they are keyed to the crankshaft and there is only one way on and off, but if you start messing with the camshaft gears and timing belt/chain, then you have to watch how you put them back together.

You have the right idea with the distributor, but make sure you have the right piston as your number one. Again I am not sure what engine you are working on and I have seen the timing set up differntly on various engines

Yeah.. what I was about to say is to just cut them if they are still on the vehicle... what kind of vehicle are they on?

Only couple of things that come to mind are to burn the rubber bushings out and then replace the bushings and sleeves or press the sleeves out of the bushings along with the bolt and replace the sleeves with new ones.

Are the leaf spings still attached to the vehicle?
