Hello Everyone,

We're a family of 5, located in Davison, Michigan, that just got into the Jeep thing. We bought a 1988 Jeep YJ, 90 4.0L FI, but it's need of some severe lift and other miscellaneous fixes. The previous owners stuffed 35's under it with no lift and you can imagine the noises it makes when going over the slightest of obstacles. We're excited to be getting into this new hobby and look forward to the many weekends playing in the mud and sand (and maybe snow). Our new friends down at Unlimited Offroad are grafting in a new rear frame section this week so we can get back at the other stuff we wish to do.

Glad to meet you Brian - 35's under a stock YJ is....interesting!  My 31's rubbed coming out of the discount tire parking lot, went straight home and got the JC Whitney catalogue out!  The guys at UORC will take good care of you, but watch out for their parts-pimp Jason.  The guy could sell ice cubes to eskimos!

BTW with a family of five, who gets lashed to the bumper?

Thanks for the welcome. You're right, we have an odd person out, but since we haven't been able to really go anywhere yet with it, I haven't decided on whether we draw straws or leave one of the youngsters at home alone with the dog.

Well, things are turning out not-so-good now. The frame is beyond repair, so I guess we're now in the market for a complete frame with 6 cyl. mounts. If anyone knows of where I could pick up one for a reasonable price and rust free, drop me a line.

Thanks.

<EDIT> Disregard, it's now up for sale... http://flint.craigslist.org/cto/1300460394.html

Welcome to the site.  Too bad about your Jeep... Good luck finding something you can wheel.  We'll look forward to seeing you on the trails when you are back in business!

Well, the good news is that we're back in business.. got a frame section from across state, had it welded up by Iron Mikes on Dort and just finished putting on a 4" lift.

That should give you some room for the 35's...Will look forward to seeing the rig.  We have our fall color tour scheduled in October - think about hooking up with us for that trip.  It's mostly very easy two tracks with a few fun hill climbs and such... Nice trip to break the family in on...
