Title: Fresh Meet
Post by: Yager on October 15, 2007, 10:57:28 PM
Fresh meet, get it? Heh heh.. okay, I don't think it's funny either, but it was clever, yes?

Anyway, my name is Jamison, last name Yager, and usually go by that. My wife and I are a young couple and we have a 2 year old daughter. I have an 04 Cherokee Laredo and a 95 Wrangler S. We moved from the muskegon area over here about two years ago and havn't been able to find anywhere to ride. We're looking for people to go wheeling with, and some comraderie. Unfortuantely, we're very busy people. I'm active national guard, my wife is a student, and I'm also going to the fire fighter's training, so, hopefully we'll be able to make some meetings.

PS: Over here is the howell area.

I'd love to join you, but I bought I wrangler today and I pretty much stretched the bank account to do it. I wont be doing any riding this month. But definately keep me updated, I'm not opposed to traveling, camping (even in winter), or driving on snowy trails.

Yeah, we already got into the headlights discussion last night on the chat. Hey, 6 PM at Sharkey's on the 4th, 1st Sunday in Nov, right? Is there a ride, or is this just a bar/restaraunt gathering to bash guys with square headlights and talk about what we think we should do in the coming months?

We actually have what appears to be a real business meeting on the 1st Sunday - minutes, voting, very official stuff.  Usually preceded by beer & BS, or followed by beer & BS.  Sometimes before and after depending on the day!

Square headlight bashing is optional.

Welcome aboard!

welcome Yager....
oh, and atta boy with the whole square head-light thing...PO leave you with any mods already done? lift? tire size (cody has tire envy)? Any pics?

oh, and btw, wheelin' doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg (unless you greak something)...some in the club wheel locally (to us) a couple of times a month, some wheel more....realistically, 7 gals of gas and $7 will get you through a wheelin' trip to the mounds (and that includes your round-trip gas to and from)

Hope to see you at Sharky's for the next mtg!!!

How do you "greak" something?  I've torn some stuff up big time, but I've never "greaked" it.  At least I don't think I have.  Maybe I need to check my skivvies and see if it's something I might have done in there?!?!?!

Yeah, the bitch about it is is that wranglers are in such high demand you have to pay more than you would for other vehicles. Their resale value is rediculous. I still made out under the private party rate. I figure, clean up the rust on the floor boards, paint over to prevent more, then clean up the rust on the rear right where the minor damage is and paint again to prevent. Then, black diamond plate on the rear corners and tail gate to spruce things up. You guys probably know, what paint would be best?

If your gonna dimond plate over it, I would use some por15 or rust convertor primer because the dimond plate is going to trap moisture thus make it rot out faster.

LINE-X everything.  Ohh, wiat a minute, thats my Jeep.     Hey Yager, whats your MOS?  I just reread your intro.  Don't tell me 95B.   :o   I spent 4 years as an 11B1P living the dream.   :D  Thanks for carrying the torch and continuing on with helping keep this nation free.  When we meet, your first round is on me.

11b3O.. I have a sniper identifier, B4. But I don't know why, never been to sniper school or done the duty. Should get that fixed before they deploy me as a sniper. And, thanks for your service Longarm. I want my jeep fully rhinolined too, only way to keep it from rusting I can see.
Title: Re: Fresh Meet
Post by: longarm on October 27, 2007, 09:53:53 AM
Ohhhh, no Rhinolined.  DO not take it to the Zebart in FLint.  They don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.  I went in there and saw there work for myself.  I wouldn't let them touch my Jeep.  If your dead set in Rhinoliner, go to a different applicator.  Save yourself the trouble.  I had mine LINE-X'd.  While it's expensive, it's vwell worth it.  I pressure wash mine at point blank range and it's good to go.  Nathan does a great job and I can get you a discount.  BTW, whats 11B30?  Is the B4 the sniper id?
Title: Re: Fresh Meet
Post by: Yager on October 27, 2007, 12:45:49 PM
11B is infantry, 3 is my skill level (Staff Sergeant) and the O is a place holder because I'm a leg. O is for a special skill Identifier like P for airborne, or V for ranger. The B4 would be the last part, for sniper (again, dunno why I have it). So my full MOS is 11B3OB4 Your full mos would be 11B1PYY (the y's for place holder since you don't have a Additional skill identifier) Special Skill IDs anyone can have, Additional Skill IDs are MOS driven.

I found a rhinoliner dealer in jackson, I live just south of howell.

Ahhh, my neck of the woods! The rhino liner dealer in jackson is auto images. I know the owner quite well & can get you a discount!  BTW I've had him do both of my neighbors trucks (he is anal retentive), and the job is always very well done. Let me know.

Ok, I get it now.  I know all to well about the 11B.     No leg here though.     Actually I should have said 11BC21P.

TANK KILLER!!!!

Ya ever seen someone jump a dragon?  Now, THATS an experiance.  I really need to go skydiving.

Actually, I was 11H, Heavy Anti-Armor Infantry when I first came in, used the ITOW2 from M113s. Then they phased out 11H and made us all 11Bs. They still have anti-armor companies, they're just 11Bs now.
Title: Re: Fresh Meet
Post by: Yager on October 28, 2007, 11:08:02 AM
PS: The Dragon is no longer in major use. It has been replaced by the TOW missile and the AT4. Though, to my dismay, I cannot remember when they started phasing it out, so I can't date your service. ;)

Post by: longarm on October 29, 2007, 01:49:46 AM
I was 94-98.  I heard they phased it out and replaced it with the Javelin.  It was a fire and forget system.  Much better, a few seconds longer life expectency.

Yeah, the TOWs are wire guided and you have to track you target, which sounds outdated, but it actually prevents them from jamming you. They also have a mass detector that detects the tank prior to hitting it, and goes up into the air then down on the turret.
