Hi All
At our last meeting we talked about maybe getting a DC Welder/AC Generator. Just to give you an idea about price, the one in the link below is $1700.00. Add to that the cost of a Welding Helmet, gloves , rod and etc.

We also talked about an air compressor. A gas powered 150 psi is about the same price.

An electric one, that could be run with the Welder/AC Generator is about $700.00.

There is also the option of a 3-in-1 Air Compressor/Generator/Welder.

I think something that would be used more and is a lot cheaper is a power washer. about $300.00
This is just informational. I am not recommending anything.

Personally I think the club purchasing any type of durable equipment other than trail maintenance tools is a waste of our money
One of the issues I see is if we purchase any of the above we will end up having to buy a new trailer because I don't think even a gas compressor will fit in the door of our current trailer.

I said in the meeting that a generator will not run a welder, I meant an arc welder it will run a smaller wire welder. That would be a cheaper way to go. A wire welder can be had for about $650.00 and can be run with a 6500 watt generator, that is also about $650.00.
One problem with buying any of this stuff is how do we keep it from being ripped off.
I bought a GenRac brand 6500watt gen. at Costco for about $800 and for the club you can get a Harbor freight flux core wire feed welder for $100.

I agree. The only time the trailer is used is for trail maintenance where we don't have major break downs to need such expensive equipment.
My .02, maybe we should stock up on spare parts and bring the trailer to events. Parts like axle shafts, u joints, fluids, and common mechanic tools (13mm-22mm). I'll chip in some shafts and a spare tie rod.
I do not believe the club should be buying tools with club money.
Or maybe we could buy one of these for Moundsgiving, Camping events, or club picnic?

If we are going to stock the trailer with anything how about we start with a good full set of tools .... you know something like a 200 piece craftsman set or something similar . In all the years I've been hitting the trail clean ups there has never been a need for a welder of air compressor ......
