Events / Re: Milford Memorial Day Parade

Kristina and I will be north, my parents are working, so my old iron wont make it this year [emoji853]
For you new members of you can make this, I couldn't believe the turnout for this event in years past.  For us it was humbling and gratifying to escort a Vet on that parade route and topped off with a very moving tribute at the memorial.
I highly recommend that anyone who can, try and make this at least once!!
Scott

Paul, I believe I have a work event that weekend that will keep us tied close to home,  my trailer should be available...  2 5/16 ball, 7 pin harness and elec brakes. What are you towing with?

It's a buddy's truck...  doesnt like the irritability of a selectable, air or electromagnetic or the cable, too many things to go wrong and cost is rediculous...  probable he will end up tru-trac front and rear after talking with eaton.

After much reading and getting opinions, apparently lots of ideas out there but not many with supporting information.  A consultation with Eaton tech rep convinced us that it's not the best idea with drive trains as they are today and with driving habits most drivers are used to.  It's too bad, such a tradeoff for a superb product for off road.

Tech Talk / Re: Loose steering

Any recommendations on manufacturer...  4wd hardware carries "new" ones from crown.  They seem to range from $400 to $600...  AutoZone has remanufactured ones...  can they be trusted?

Anybody familiar with the old CJ style Saginaw steering gearboxes?  My steering has grown increasingly sloppy and Russ mentioned possibly an adjustment rather than replacement.  Can they be rebuilt or am I looking at a replacement? Any suggestions? [emoji15]

By the way it fractured, seemed a stock one may have held up better.  Broke right at the threads at the joint end.  Sad.  Had one hell-uf-a macGuyver fix to get him out of the rock pile and back to camp.  Too bad we didn't get any picts of the field repair.

It's futile.  Kristina has tried for 15 years...  I'm kind of curious on this stuff.  Sounds interesting.

So pardon my engineering brain at work here...  If we are out wheeling in a "sensitive area" somewhere and we have a leak on the ground which is more likely than on an impervious paved surface how do we keep our fluid from soaking into the ground before we can get this absorbant product in place...?  Something just isn't connecting for me.

Por15 is great product when you follow the directions for prep and topcoating.  It works best if you have a slight bit of corrosion in place if I recall correctly.

I never even looked at fiberglass, wasn't interested. Wanted steel.

No cutting.  A little file work.  Some drilling on the firewall and a little alignment of the holes where the front fenders line up.  Otherwise mostly fit well.  I don't recall exactly what MAACO cost but I recall they were thrilled to have it in loose pieces and off the frame (no masking).  It must have been around $500 at the time.  Por15 is best directly applied on metal.  My tub came primed.  Also you have to topcoat por15, it is not UV stable.
