Trail Rides / More June Wheeling
June 13, 2016, 09:28:55 AM
The Club will be heading up for some trail riding in/around Grayling the Weekend of June 25-26.  Full day of Trail riding on Saturday and possibly a half day on Sunday before heading home.  Camping in the area for the weekend most likely at one of the state parks.

If a weekend of camping with the family and a great day on the trails is the type of fun you are looking for, PM me for details.  Guests are welcome!

How many spots left for this class??

I think we could fit as many as 8 people, 6 would be more comfortable... Do you agree Paul?

The Lounge / 4WD Awareness Training
May 11, 2016, 05:59:30 PM
At April's meeting I asked about interest in a 4WD Safety/Awareness class for our club again this year and there was no one present that expressed a desire to do it.  Paul has had some individual requests from non-members and another Club has asked about a class, so it looks like we are going to go ahead and put one on the Calendar.  We are looking at possibly Saturday June 25 at Rocks & Valleys.  If anyone is interested in the class, please post up here.  Cost has been about $45.00 and includes your admission to the park, Your workbook, and a boxed lunch.

The class itself is 1/2 day classroom and 1/2 day practical skills in the park.  We cover components of your Offroad Vehicle, Off-road spotting and general etiquette, driving techniques for various terrain, recovery using winches, recovery straps, etc.  Great for new off-roaders and not a bad reminder for experienced folks as well. I would think on the outside we could only fit about 10 people in the room we have for the class, so any WLB members that are interested please let us know ASAP.

Events / First Scooter's Jeep Night of the Year!
May 11, 2016, 05:50:28 PM
Don't forget that the folks from Unlimited Offroad are starting up Jeep Night at Scooters again beginning Thursday May 12th - that's Tomorrow!  Last year they had a bunch of really sweet vendor rigs there for the kick-off party and they had some really nice giveaways and such.  Lets have a great showing of WLB orange so we are well represented at this "local" event.

Unfortunately, I am stuck down in Indiana taking care of some Dishonest Employee issues, so I will have to miss this one.  If you are going, be sure to have a spotted card or two or a brochure that you can hand out to anyone that expresses some interested in the club.

If you haven't heard, they will be doing the Jeep night every other week this year instead of weekly.  I think we had a pretty good time last summer hanging out there on thursdays, so I am looking forward to it again this year!

Did you replace the ring and pinion?

Not yet, the very front of the pinion gear is chewed up, but the ring gear is still getting pretty good contact with the pinion so we buttoned it back up for now, hoping to get through PA as is and then figure out a new locker and replace the ring & Pinion at the same time...

I have a song running through my head and it goes something like this... Unz, Unz, Unz, and another one gone, and another one gone, another one bites the dust. Isn't this Spartan locker number 2 in our club that broke the center pin?

Yes, the center pin on Marks went last year.  Oddly, I wheeled my Spartan for like 4 years with no issue and did a rebuild 2 years ago as the center pin was getting little worn flat spots, but this was the new pin - replaced Summer of 2014 that gave up the ghost.  We actually put my old pin back in as a temporary solution.  May be time to upgrade to another elocker in the front there...

Oh, and for those that were there and heard the awful sounds coming front my front end, we found the culprit... Center pin on my Spartan locker was broke in 3 pieces and was sliding out and hitting the pinion gear... NOT GOOD!  I don't think I did anything here to break that pin, may have happened a while ago and just finally worked its way out... not sure...

We had 6 rigs playing up at Rocks & Valleys Saturday.  I didn't get too many pics, but I know Jeremy's wife was snapping away, so she may have a few to add...
