Title: Royal Purple Engine Oil
Post by: Vodospecialist on June 23, 2018, 10:18:25 PM
If you're running Royal Purple engine oil, how many miles do you drive between oil changes? I have seen the Royal Purple's claim of 1 year or 12,000 mi, whatever comes first, but was wondering what others who actually use Royal Purple are doing.

Thx

My recommendation would be to still follow the original change interval, or once a year.
Off road use is typically harder on engines, and using quality oil helps ease that burden. On a stock daily driver you could stretch it a bit over the recommended interval perhaps, but that's also a good reason for jeep to deny warrenty work, if that's a concern....

I would not use any oil that does not meet the manufactures spec.  This is the reason for most premature engine failures.  Do not trust the oil change places to put the correct oil in!  If it doesn't have the correct certification numbers on it don't use it.

Here's a screenshot from Royal Purples website. I suspect FCA would have sued them by now if this was not approved. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180630/ce082067c6d11cde4fdaff288b5c01c5.png)

Perhaps there is a new or revised spec?

Thanks
