Title: 3rd Anual 4x4 Show in the Flint Journal

We made the paper!

QuoteBURTON,, Michigan -- An afternoon rain didn't dampen the mood for 4x4 enthusiasts visiting the third annual 4x4 show Saturday at Rocky's Great Outdoors, 4014 S. Saginaw, hosted by the What Lies Beyond Jeep Club of Michigan.  Oscar Durand | The Flint JournalA Jeep-shaped trophy shines at the 4x4 show at Rocky's Great Outdoors in Burton. Follow this link to check out a photo gallery from the show.  "We love the mud, that's why we're here," said Jaime L. Walker, 33, of Flint.  Walker was among the dozen people walking around the 14 4x4 vehicles showcased at the free event.
Festival officials gave out awards for those entering the tallest and shortest 4x4, the ugliest, the one with the best fabrication and the best of show. Judging results were not available at press time.
Jody Sweet, 46, of Burton said she never owned one, but was interested enough to spend about 90 minutes looking at them.
"I drive a Dodge Stratus, they're good on gas mileage," she said.
"I've never been in a 4x4. They're interesting."
"I've never had a 4x4, but I've been thinking about it," said James Urbin, 43, of Burton.
"My brother-in-law has a Jeep 4x4 and they're a lot of fun."
He said he drove pick-up trucks his whole life, but is thinking of converting.
"I think the most interesting one here is the Jeep with the V-8 (engine)."
The Jeep he spoke of is a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, said Steve M. Anderson, 23, of Brighton, who works for Unlimited Off Road Centers, located at 3201 W. Thompson at U.S. 23 in Fenton and brought it to the show.
"We modify them," Anderson said.  "In this case, we took the 3.8 V6 engine out and put in a 6.1 Hemmi V8. It gets up and goes good. It also has a little bit of a suspension lift.  Another Jeep Anderson brought down was a Jeep Wrangler converted into a pickup.  "It took us a week straight to modify it," he said. "It started out as a 1997 Jeep Wrangler. We built it last year, so is it a 2008?"  The 4x4 has a 4.7 Stroker six-cylinder engine and sports one-ton axles. Walker said he used to take his children and the family dog out in the mud when he had his Jeep.  "They all loved getting muddy," he said.  "It's wholesome fun. It's something kids need to get into. If you take them to the drag strip or a mud hole, they're bound to like one of them. It can give them a passion in life, a creative outlet."

I emailed the Journal about the event, and they sent a writer and photographer out.

We made the front page of the Burton News as well!  I am going to try to get a copy!
