Title: Stuck in park!!??
Post by: StingRay66 on November 25, 2012, 05:36:27 PM
Went to move the Wrangler today and it wouldn't shift out of park. Looked on Wrangler.com and got a few ideas and when I went out to try them the battery was dead so I put a charger on it and will try again tomorrow. The battery has been dragin the last few weeks I guess its time to replace it.

Wait, what is this "Park" you speak of? :P

Anywho, that sucks... I  wonder if its battery... I know I had issues with my Grand Am and the battery was the cause, something about not enough current or juice, I dunno...

If the battery was dead, the shifter interlock thingy probably would not let go.

My sons '99 TJ had that problem.  I took the shifter off and found that the plastic rod that goes from the button down through the shifter wasn't engaging properly.  I can't remember exactly but I think I used a hot melt glue gun to put a dab on the plastic rod to increase it's length so it would engage.

Good luck!
