Tech Talk / Re: D44 Axle Build (Dana 44HD Thoughts)
June 29, 2018, 06:01:06 PM
The only difference between a JKs dana 30 and a JKs Rubicon dana 44 is the pumpkin and gears.  They have the same tubes and c's and since sometime in 2013 the same u-joints.  If you get a new axle assembly for your JK, get one that is wider by 4 inches for turning clearance.  Also get one that has the pinion tipped up 2 to 5 deg so when it is lifted, the drive shaft angle is better.  If this axle is the one used on the Rubicon Recon then the tubes and C's (I think) are stronger.  The recon axle is the axle that is used on the Egyptian army Jeeps.

Tech Talk / Re: Royal Purple Engine Oil
June 28, 2018, 09:18:08 PM
I would not use any oil that does not meet the manufactures spec.  This is the reason for most premature engine failures.  Do not trust the oil change places to put the correct oil in!  If it doesn't have the correct certification numbers on it don't use it.

Who did the regear?  Take it back and ask them.  It could be left over mess from the regear.  Wash it off and check  it after a few days to see how much it is leaking.  It does not look bad to me.

The higher end Warn Winches are the BEST if you can spend the money.  One thing you need to think about is how often are you going to use it.  Most people will only use there winch about 12 times or so.  It should be water resistant so it will work when you need it.
