The Lounge / Picturesfor the Meeting on Sunday
November 01, 2012, 07:32:48 PM
Hello All-

I am thinking of putting together a little photoflip book for the club.  If you have time before  Sunday's meeting, would you all mind dropping some of your best photos from 2011/2012 onto a cd for me and bring it with you?  Make sure you have one folder for 2011 and a seperate one for 2012... If you can name the photos so I know the events that would be great.  I'd like to have a comprehensive book of any/all events that any of us particpated in during 2011.

Thanks!

Ed

Trail Rides / Bundy Hill September 8th
July 02, 2012, 07:42:14 AM
Paul won a free pass to bundy hill at SnoFari this year.  We finally set a date to go try the park. Saturday September 8th for a day tripper.  As we get closer we can finalize details of caravaning down, etc. using this forum.

Events / Volunteer Trail Patrol
June 04, 2012, 08:07:15 AM
I heard back from Bob and he says 4:00pm on Sunday July 1st works for him.  I am going to call Joe over at all-star just to be sure we can have the room the extra hour early, but I don't see it being a problem.  So we can do the training class at 4:00, still have our Social Hour at 5:00 and Meeting at 6:00.

The Lounge / Stuck of the month award
May 01, 2012, 07:03:18 PM
I saw a feature on another clubs forum that was the "Stuck of the Month" or some such thing.  Would it be possible to set up one of the tabs to have this where there would be the best picture we have from our most recent outing of somebody stuck really bad... We could also open it up for others to submit their pictures as nominations for stuck of the month... We could try to think of a jazzier name, but you get the idea.  Of course, I would have to nominate myself for April as I was the only one to get stuck at Silver Lake (Does that mean I was the only one "truly" wheeling?)Thanks to Ryan for preserving the moment in pictures!

Maybe we can talk about it at our meeting Sunday...

April 06, 2012, 09:57:13 AM
OK, Between the Two Trackers Forest Clean-up, and the WLB trail maintenance/Go Topless Day event, we have the Cadilac Jeepers Annual Jeep Blessing on May 5th.  I know Mark and I are definitely planning on attending... some of our new facebook friends are going to be there... Anyboday else from the club going?  I will be going up Friday night as I am helping set up the GLFWDA booth first thing Saturday and covering it for a few hours that day when I am not getting stuck on the master driver course... Not sure If I will saty for the twisted trails event on Sunday, but I'm pretty sure Mark said he was up for it...

Trail Rides / Muddy Buddy's 4x4 Covered Bridge Run
April 06, 2012, 09:48:05 AM
In the spirng 2011 issue of the boondocker, available at: http://www.glfwda.org/content.php?4-boondocker-library there is an article from Doug Saul about the Muddy Buddy's Covered Bridge Road Rally from last year.  It takes place south of Dayton, Ohio and it looked like a pretty neat trip and it supports the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. This years event is Saturday June 16th.  We really wanted to do this trip last year and it didn't work out with our schedule.  It looks like we can probably go this year.  It is far enough down into Ohio that you will likely want to drive down Friday night and you could either drive home saturday after the rally or stay for another night and enjoy the after party.  This is not a true "trail ride" - mostly on roads but there are some small stream crossing ands hill climbs along the way.  The trip includes 11 covered bridges in the area and runs about 100 miles.  Anybody else interested?  It might be a good alternative for folks who can't make the silver lake trip the following weekend (which includes us, I believe)Check out the article and lets get a group together to caravan down.

Events / Go Topless Day 2012 - May 19th, 2012
March 27, 2012, 07:29:41 AM

For the second year in a row, What Lies Beyond has our trail maintenance weekend scheduled on the date of "International Go Topless Day" as declared by AllthingsJeep.com.  The folks at ATJ have been excellent partners over the years in helping us to "celebrate Jeep love, Jeep spirit, and the sense of fun & adventure that comes with owning a Jeep" and they can be found here: http://www.allthingsjeep.com/ This year, weather permitting, we will have the tops down as we work hard all day clearing the Trails in Atltanta, Michigan for a new season of wheeling for all OHV's to enjoy.  Of course, those that work hard get to play hard, so we will be finishing the day with a club sponsored cook-out back at Clear Lake State Campground.  Rates look to be about $19.00/night and reservations can be made through michigan.gov/dnr although that early in the season it is usually wide open.  We can use this thread to post up details as far as start times, meeting places, etc. as we get nearer to the date!

Events / Two Trackers Clean-up 2012
March 05, 2012, 07:00:45 PM
OK, I have been mentioning this for the last couple months at the meetings.  April 21st is the next Two Trackers Clean-up in the Manistee Forest out on the west side of the state.  GLFWDA will be holding their spring quarterly that afternoon following the lunch provided by the two trackers.  This is a great opportunity to have a nice weekend with our families in the Michigan Outdoors.  We can stay Saturday night in the area and go wheeling at Silver Lake Sand dunes on Sunday before heading home.

So one weekend with opportunites for:

A great service project that will open your eyes and teach our kids about good stewardwhip of the natural beauty of our State

A chance to particpate in a GLFWDA Quarterly meeting and bring your ideas to the table

A open day of wheeling at the Sand Dunes!

I hope to see a lot of us out for this weekend.

I am definitely in, Julie is a ? based on how cold it is... I will probably work Friday out in the west side of the state and just meet everybody out there either friday night or Saturday morning.

The dates will be here before you know it, so lets get planning!

Pictures and Videos / Last Sunday In February pics
February 27, 2012, 06:56:00 AM
Well, can't say it was the most awesome trip ever... got started down a few trails that quickly deteriorated into sub goat-paths that we had to turn around on and then had a major break on one of the rigs between the camelback hills that ate up most of the afternoon for reapirs.  Still, worst day in the woods is better than the best day at work as they say...  It was some great fresh snow and very pretty. Some pics:

I don't know why this board is always cutting off the pictures anymore...I will have prints of these for anyone at the meeting this sunday.

Events / WrenchFest on the JK
February 11, 2012, 10:31:54 AM
I have the new front and rear differential covers to put on plus I just ordered an auxillary transmission cooler and transmission temp gauge, plus I have the new "anti hood flutter" latches to install while we are at it.  Mark has said we could use his garage when I was ready... I am hoping the trans cooler will be in this week.  Is there a day in the next couple weekends that works for you mark? Once we know that, anybody intersted in lending a hand can post up.  I will supply food and beer as per tradition.

The Lounge / Cool Web Site
January 22, 2012, 08:06:08 PM
Flipping through the JP magazine that Mark lent me, I found the ad for this website:

http://www.ureversit.com/

Very intersting concept and worth a look.  You buy credits that cost a bit less than $1 a piece.  Then they post items for sale along with the MSRP.  they hide the current selling price and you can use your $1 credit to see what is the current price.  Each person that uses a credit to see the price drives the price down. If you like the price when you see it, you can buy it at that price.  If not, you can try checking later to see if it has gone down.  They have everything listed form $2,000 bumpers down to $30 accessories.  There are only a few items active at one time, but you might really score.   Looks like a cool concept and you get 3 credits just for registering.

Trail Rides / Last Sunday In February
January 16, 2012, 06:54:49 PM
The last couple of years Paul H has lead a "I need a break from tax season" run on the last Sunday in February.  It is on our calendar again for this year... Any thoughts on where you want to go, Paul?  Are we heading up to West Branch/St Helen again, or did you have anything else in mind?  I am not positive if I will be open for that date or not, but I figured we might as well start a thread...

Pictures and Videos / Trolls Fall Color
November 26, 2011, 06:38:23 PM
Way late posting these!  I think we wound up with about 60 rigs split into two groups up in Wolverine, MI back in October for the Trolls color tour.  Color was just past peak with some leaves falling already, but overall it was a georgous day.  Thanks Trolls!

Trail Rides / Other December Wheeling
November 26, 2011, 06:20:17 PM
While a quick mounds trip before the meeting is always fun, I would like to get out to something besides the Mounds in December.  How about Sunday the 18th we head to Rocks and Valleys?  I was thinking Bundy Hill, but it doesn't look like they are open.  I am open to other suggestions...

The Lounge / November Meeting
October 23, 2011, 06:32:09 PM
Just an FYI - Julie and I will be out of town the first weekened in November, so we will not be at our Meeting.  I think we just need to finalize plans for the mounds and perhaps nail down a date for a rocks and valleys trip proposed by Paul.  Enjoy, and I will see you all Thanksgiving morning!
