Soooo, because of a chat we had last night that got my rusty gears in my head turning I am trying to decide what size tires I want now.

I have a 2.5L 5-speed stock gearing with 4" of lift and I plan on doing a 2" body lift.

Im debating on 33s or just stepping up to 35s.  My jeep wants to be just like Neils new one when it grows up :-P

35's, without a doubt. Sure you wont be able to go over 60 mph until you regear.. but 35's are awesome. :)

If you are going to just run Michigan trails I don't see the need to go higher then 33's.

My thoughts on this is that if everyone woulds just stop buy larger tires and ripping up the trails with them, then they wouldn't need to keep raising their tire size. People with 31's have to raise their tire size to 33's because they people running 33's just dug deeper grooves into the trails and mud holes, to the people running 31's can't get through now. Now the people with 33's have to bump up to 35's because the people running 35's just dug deeper grooves in the trails and mud holes, so the people running 33's can't get through now. The people running 35's now have to bump up to 38's because etc.

Just my theory on things is all.

I agree mudviper. However, we, as a club, have traveled outside the state, and are planning to do so in the future as well.

I haven't found a need for 35s yet anywhere I have been - in fact I have taken most of my trips on 31s.  I would rather spend money on gears and a locker instead of 35s.

I'd have to suggest the 33's unless you're re-gearing at the same time. My 33's have worked great on anything I've put it thru.

I am voting 35's.  More axle clearance for now.  Until you change axles and lift kit later and then you can plan it all out all over again.

I would go with the 33's for now Cody.  Get the Kumho's.  Their not as expensive as most and a re a great tire for the $.  //www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Road+Venture+MT+KL71

I got a buddy that owns a tire shop and hooks me up with some great deals. Before you buy a set let me know ( he can't get every brand, however he does have access to alot ) and I'll have him price it for you.

Soooo I bought some 35s.  w00t!  I picked up a great deal on some 35 toyo open country ATs, brand new.  I figure, I will use these for winter tires and I will buy some MTs in the spring.

Pics to come when I get my Jeep back.
